The Lambent Crisis

A glowing plague born from the earth that threatened to consume all of humanity on Sera.

The Lambent Crisis represents the existential threat posed by the Corrupted, creatures mutated by Imulsion radiation deep within Sera's crust. Following Emergence Day, humanity fought the Locust Horde only to discover their enemies were using a biological weapon that eventually turned against them. This dual-front war defined the later years of the conflict between the Coalition of Ordered Governments and the subterranean forces.

Lore & Background

Imulsion was once hailed as a miracle fuel source, but prolonged exposure proved catastrophic. When Locust tunnels breached into Imulsion pockets within the Hollow, the radiation mutated their own kind and surface wildlife into the Lambent. These Corrupted creatures were driven by a hive mind to consume everything in their path, glowing with toxic blue energy. The Locust Queen Myrrah initially used this as a weapon against humanity, but eventually lost control of the infection she unleashed.

In Their Own Story

The air tasted like copper and ozone. Sergeant Marcus Fenix watched the horizon, not for enemy tanks, but for the telltale violet haze rising from the cracks in the earth. Below them, the ground hummed with a sickening vibration. It was no longer just about holding the line against soldiers; it was about surviving the planet itself turning against them.

Reader's Guide

The conflict began immediately following Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde erupted from the Hollow. Initially, humanity focused solely on survival against the subterranean enemies. However, as the war dragged on, Imulsion radiation seeped into the surface world, mutating creatures into glowing Corrupted known as Lambent. This created a two-front war for the Coalition of Ordered Governments during the siege of Jacinto City. By the later stages, the threat escalated significantly as the Locust King fell and his death triggered a surge in Imulsion instability within the Hollow. The COG realized the Locust were inadvertently fueling their own destruction alongside humanity’s demise. The final chapter saw the crisis peak when Queen Myrrah attempted to use the Swarm to destroy the planet. A desperate strike team infiltrated the Deep Hollow, confronting both surviving Horde leadership and the pure Lambent energy source. Ultimately, the Crisis was resolved through the sacrifice of key leaders who neutralized the Imulsion core, ending the immediate threat but leaving Sera scarred forever.
